Free Focus was created by three brothers who were professional filmmakers and writers. We had the idea to create Free Focus after sifting through take after take of blurry shots. After reviewing all of the footage of a particularly challenging day of shooting, we discovered most of the shots that were captured that day were soft. The crew and actors worked hard all day and, while there were moments of sharp focus, it seemed like a lot of spent energy and resources for little payoff. There had to be a better way. We put our heads together and came up with Free Focus.

THE BEGINNING

Free Focus started as a side project to help with one of the most annoying and difficult tasks we face as filmmakers - getting sharp focus. As soon as we started building Free Focus and testing the prototype, we realized just how useful this tool would be for all filmmakers.

BRINGING IT TO LIFE

Taking Free Focus from idea to reality has been a tremendous team effort. We’ve collaborated with industrial designers, engineers, and product development firms to test the technology, create the prototype, refine the product, and now we’re ready to start sharing our project with the world. We couldn’t be more excited to bring this incredible tool to filmmakers.
